The team must build and bring one pre-constructed, autonomous or manual, wireless car. Participants have to submit a portfolio of their car, consisting of various details and a video of the working model before the competition.

5.1.0. Dimensional Specifications

• Length (maximum distance in front and rear tires end to end) – 60 cm
• Width of the car – maximum 30 cm
• Height (measure with suspension fully compressed) – maximum 30 cm
• Buggy or other off-road style body that resembles an actual off-road racing type
• Sensor based or sensor less motors are allowed in all-electric classes.
• “Roll-over” antennas are allowed in on-road classes only, not in any oval or off-road classes. The exposed ends of such antennas must be fitted with a button or ball having a diameter of at least 5/16”.
• Batteries must be sealed, immobilized electrolyte type (gel cell, lithium, NiCad, or dry cell)
• Teams can procure brake system, suspension, servo motors readily available in market.
• Any part/building material can be used until the vehicle meets the above specifications and if the design and construction are primarily the original work of the team as ready-made vehicles are not allowed to compete.

5.2.0. Radio Equipment

• Radio systems are limited to the use of two channels for operating two servos.
• 2.4 GHz DSM/DSS systems or any frequency are allowed but should notify the transmission technology, and crystal frequency to referee.
• No advancement in radio apart from car controlling/regulating/fine tuning/trimming will be entertained.
• Changing frequencies by interchanging transmitter and receiver crystals (reversed frequencies) is prohibited.
• No traction control system is allowed. Only steering servo and throttle servo will be operated by radio, any mislead will lead to disqualification and will have to pay a penalty of destruction.
• Vehicle should have a fail-safe system that will positively return the vehicle’s throttle to an idle position if the vehicle loses electrical power or its radio signal.

5.3.0. Brake Specifications

• All vehicles must be equipped with a working brake system capable of stopping the vehicle and holding it motionless with the motor running.

5.4.0. Tyres

• Only rubber tyres can be used. Cutting or modifying the tread is allowed.
• Trimming the mounting bead of a tyre to fit a legal rim is allowed.
• Cutting tyres from the same class to fit wheels of the same is not allowed, regardless of whether it fits minimum tyre dimensions or not.

5.5.0. Battery

• Lithium Polymer battery packs may be used to power electric racing cars.
• Battery allowed voltage – 7.4V to 11.1V and capacity 1050 mAh to 2500 mAh.
• Batteries cannot be charged or changed during a standard-length race.

5.6.0. Transmission and Drive

• Single speed transmissions with 2WD (two-wheel drive) or 4WD is allowed.
• Rear suspension – Independent vehicle.

3.1.0. Field Dimensions

The Racing track for RC Car would be approx 200 meters length and will be an off-road dirt track.

• Pit lane along with Drivers’ stand will be provided on one side of the track.
• Multiple machines will race, in some or all the rounds, on a single-lane track at a time.
• A lap of the track is completed when the machine comes back to the start-finish line.
• The track is subject to undergo wear and tear as cars run over it. The car is expected to be able to perform on such a weakened track as well.
• All drivers while racing will be accommodated in the driver stand which will be spacious, but it is the drivers’ responsibility to hold straight and be cooperative with the neighbouring drivers.
• Predefined Obstacles for the competition will include Switch Bridge, speed breakers, marble pit, slippery path, curve ramp down, etc.

4.1.0. Race Format

The car must start behind the starting mark and is considered to have crossed the finishing line. Car can be manually/autonomously controlled, and it should be capable of traversing over different terrain and hurdles without going outside the track. The racing track has a special place defined for the Car’s operation (hereafter competition field). There would be multiple rounds in competition until top 3 winning teams are selected. Racing tracks for each round can be changed.

• 4 to 5 racing cars would be playing in each round. Team schedule would be announced before competition day. If 1 car is missing in first round, 4 cars would be competing in race. If 2 cars are missing, rest 3 cars would be competing in race.
• Each round would have maximum 5 minutes racing time and 5 minutes for readiness. Readiness time will not be included in racing time. Car reaching first to finish line, will be declared winner for respective round.
• If car loses the track or gets stuck or stops functioning, car operator can check the car and restart from same point. Any time used to adjust the car between runs is included in the 5 minutes.
• Each run will start from the starting point. The operator may abort a run at any time. Each team will get maximum 3 chances to touch the car in each round. If a car has already crossed the finish line, it may be removed at any time without affecting the runtime of that run.
• During run, team may fix minor technical issues.
• The run timer will start when the front edge of the car crosses the start line and stops when the front edge of the car crosses the finish line.

4.2.0. Time Between Races

Teams and their respective cars may be required to compete in multiple races in one day. However, no Team will be required to compete in more than one race in any 60-minute period. Teams who are not prepared to compete after this period may be required to Forfeit.

There is no specified maximum time between Races, and due to the scheduling of the Tournament and/or production related activities, Teams may have different amounts of time between their respective races. IFES Officials will use reasonable efforts to schedule races in a manner that minimizes the between-race time differences.

4.3.0. Race Postponement

If a Team will not be able to compete in a Race as originally scheduled, e.g., due to problems with their Vehicle, they may request that the race be postponed to a later time. All such requests are subject to the approval of IFES Officials, taking into account factors such as production and Tournament schedules, fairness considerations, etc. After a Team has been granted a race postponement, any subsequent requests for additional postponements must also be approved by the opposing Team in the affected race, in addition to the approval process set forth above. Additionally, IFES reserves the right to postpone any race for any reason in their sole and absolute discretion. Any such postponement will not count as a Team requested postponement.

4.4.0. PIT Lane

• All drivers entering PIT lane should be cautious of the vehicle in front, any intentional dashing will lead to a driver penalty or even disqualification of the driver.
• No overspeeding in the pit lane will be entertained by the judges.
• Vehicle can enter Pit Lane any number of times but if found any forgery, it will lead to a penalty of 10+ seconds and will be added to the final circuit time.
• Execution of some of the PIT lane and driver stand rules will be subjective and relies completely on judges’ discretion.

Qualifying Round: There can be multiple qualifying rounds, depending upon number of teams competing. In each round, minimum 1 team will be qualified for next round whosoever reaches to finish line first as well as within 5 minutes timeline.

Final Round: Elimination in qualifying round will go on until last 3 teams are left. Final round would happen among last 3 teams and 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners will be decided as per performance of team in final round.
